About the event
The City of East Providence 250th Commission presents a Community Book Discussion.
In recognition of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, join us for a community discussion of The Greatest Sentence Ever Written by Walter Isaacson.
In this thought-provoking book, Isaacson closely examines one of the most consequential lines in American history, the famous opening sentence of the United States Declaration of Independence, exploring its origins, influences, and enduring impact.
Together, we will engage in both scrutiny and appreciation of this sentence considering what it meant in 1776 and what it means today. Library Director Meredith Bonds-Harmon and City Solicitor Mike Marcello and will facilitate the conversation, inviting participants into a respectful dialogue about language, ideals, and civic responsibility.
